Typology of Wood Joint Geometry in Basemah Highland Vernacular Architecture, South Sumatra, Indonesia

Ghumah Baghi is the vernacular architecture of Basemah highland, South Sumatra, Indonesia with distinctive wooden joints. Wood joint categories are divided based on geometry and arrangement, form, position, direction, move or no move, assembly, flush not flush, additional reinforcement, component change, resistance to loads. The problem this study was: what types wood joints were used in construction Baghi? This aimed discover typology variations arrangement. a descriptive qualitative case method. data collected through documentation, interview, direct observation, analysis was carried out by comparing from literature. research findings showed that there 8 36 theirition, shape, unique geometry. affected availability materials, geographical conditions, assembly.
